Suicide is a sin of the worst order. While not unforgivable, its takes
several incarnations to work it out. I'm unsure what would happen in the
case of mercy killing or in the case of being a captive in war. (I.E.
your captured and told to jump off a cliff while a knife is in your back.)
There also the case of a miliary suicide mission.
1) Your killing.
2) You have bad feelings toward yourself.
3) You probably have bad feeling toward others.
4) Heaven and Earth have the priveledge of determining when your born and
die. Your, potentially, taking away their authority.
5) If your killing yourself in an accident for the purpose of avoiding
debts, your leaving your heirs with difficulties. If your killing
yourself to gain insurrance, your debts may be paid, but they still
count in the sight of Heaven and Earth. Your will have to live several
charitable and sattvic lives to clear this up.
6) During your following incarnations, you will almost assuredly be born
outcast or welfare class - extremely poor. In the sight of Heaven and
Earth, if your life is so bad you have to kill yourself, then lets show
you what a tough life really is.
All this adds up to one thing - you messed up bad.
In certain situations, I've almost been force into a situation where I had
to "vanish". That would have been nearly as bad, karmically.
Bests,
Jay
