Bhairava as the legend goes killed daksha, however it is never claimed (as far
as I know) that he wanders around "trying to alleviate the sin". Where, exactly
did you come across this information?

He need not do anything, ofcourse. The actions of even a self-realized sage is
incomprehensible and they cannot be judged based on their actions (whatever it
is that they might do). The upanishhads are quite clear about this. The eg-s
given are duurvaasa, R^ishaabha etc. What then of the all powerful, iishvara? I
think if you tell what book you read this stuff from, we might be able to help.
Never heard of a book called the "kaalabhairava", I do have a kaalabhairava
stotram in my possession, which I read once in a while. However that's probably
not what you are talking about. Perhaps you read some tantrik literature?
Ramakrishnan.
