As I understand it, the Sanskrit word ``kaala'' means both ``time'' and
``black.'' You can only determine which meaning is appropriate by the
context. In the word ``Mahaakaala'' it means ``great black.'' I'm not sure
but in the word ``kaalabhairava'' I expect that it means ``black
bhairava.''
