It has to be added that although he may not be active in the VHP, he
has generally been more than sympathetic to the Sangh Parivar position
on several issues, for the past several years. Although unlike
Gurumurthy, Jay Dubashi, J.K. Jain, etc., he cannot be called a member
of some Sangh Parivar organization as such, he is very clearly a
simpatico. I have followed his writings off and on since at least the
1989 election, and this is quite clear although I can't think of any
hard evidence at the moment.
But this, of course, does not mean that his views on the linkage
between Advaita and the Amarnath disaster are endorsed by the
organization he is sympathetic to.

That, I fear, may be too much to hope for. The standard pattern is
that a committee of retired bureaucrats or judges will be appointed
which will inquire into the matter for the next five years, by which
time either the regime will change and disband the committee itself,
or people will simply have forgotten and the voluminous report
generated will gather dust, seeing the light of day only if it
contains something politically expedient to the ruling party of the
time.
