I don't need to, since I don't believe that to be the puport of the
statement. One can only accept it as such if one ignores the
Bhagavad-Giitaa.

Really? Then what do you make of this:

brahmano hi prathishaaham... (Gita 14.27)

Krishna says that He is the basis of your ultimate reality. There are also
statements like vaasudevam sarvam iti which indicate that everthing is
Krishna and His energies. I avoid saying everything is Krishna, because
although seemingly true, the distinction between Him and His energies is
made in Chapter 7. The fact that He lists His various energies and their
constituents shows that "everything is Krishna and His energies (and hence,
spirit)" is the correct purport of statements like "everthing is Brahman"
or "Vaasudeva is everything." Surely you realize that one has to make a
distinction between the energies of God and God Himself.

If everything is God, and this is a higher understanding than "everything
is spirit, or everything is the energy of God." then that means that you
are God. Are you omnipotent, omniscient, or omnipresent? If you meet all
three of these qualifications, then you can call yourself God. I'm sure you
agree that the Vedas are apourusheya, and would not be guily of making such
an easily detectable philosophical flaw.

regards,
