The difference between Buddhism and advaita philosophy
is that Hinduism is acosmic and theistic
(this means that God can be both
impersonal and personal) as implied in the advaita philosophy
God = Bhraman + Maya
Jiva = Jivatma + Maya
In the realized state, maya is removed and Essence(God) = Essence(Jiva).
(Sureshacharya , Guru Dakshina Mala).
Buddhism as espoused by the Buddha is acosmic and impersonal. The
later developments in Buddhism were basically efforts to make the
religion more digestible.
