Hello,

It is purely logical.Cows were probably endangered species &
probably a religious way of protecting animals.

Some more examples:

A daughter is married within an year of father's death.

We are all aware of 'kanyasulkam' and so the reason is
purely econimucal.ie. the money they get is useful to the
family to overcome the immediate financial loss.

Women can not be touched during the menses period.

We all know the women ( talking BC not now ) start their
daily chores at 4 am and finish their work around 10 pm.
To give some rest to the women the religion has come up with
the above rule.
It's a priviliged leave given to the ladies.( 30 days a year)

I have many such examples and I always try to see the logical
side of the belief rahter than the religious side of it.

I would be pleased if any one can give me a good list of such
beliefs so that I can come up with a logical explanation for
each one of them.

I am not atheist and I believe in god & religion. The only difference
is that I am trying to understand the concepts behind such beliefs.
