: For me, who was not born a Hindu but "evolved" into a Hindu through a
: grace and a process which were beyond my planning and understanding, my
: answer to your question, in one paragraph, is:
: The goal of Hinduism or, rather, the practice of Hinduism as a spiritual
: path, is to bring the individual to a state of realization. Realization
: is the word we would most likely use for salvation. To me, realization
: is overcoming the great illusion that God and I are separate, that there
: is a duality. It is overcoming the power of the ego, which thrives on
: separation and walls and divisions -- on anything which works against
: the intrinsic unity of Creator and Creation. Realization doesn't mean I
: have to "find" God, or become anything other than I am; realization
: means that I need to overcome the false beliefs and, in the words of
: Krishna Bhagavan Ji, become the person of wisdom "who sees himself in
: all and all in him." Hinduism, like other spiritual traditions, also
: provides a way of organizing one's life around its milestones (birth,
: marriage, death, etc.) so that there is a meaningfulness to it, as well
: as providing a strong basis for living a compassionate, ethical and
: moral life.
: I hope this helps.
