Dear Sister Sally:
The Divine Mother has been described as 'shakti' or God's power. Her
motherhood is in the creation of the world. In the SBG, God says that He
is both the 'father' and the 'mother' of the world (SBG 9.17). God also
says that He impregnates the Divine Mother in order to create the creation
(SBG 14.3-4). In the chanDI, the Divine Mother says that 'I am the only
one in this world, other than Me, there is no one else'.
When you look at the creation, in some things, the Divine pwer at work is
obvious. These are described as vibhuti in the SBG (chapter 10).
Of course, there are well-established rituals for a formal worship of the
Divine Mother. You can go to a RamaKrishna Mission temple, they can help
you to do that.
With best regards,
Dhruba.
