Worship of the Supreme Godhead as the Mother , the Divine Mother, is
a unique path of spiritual progress. It has been recommended by
some of the greatest spiritual figures like Sri Aurobindo and Sri
Ramakrishna.
ON the spiritual path having the right attitude towards God and the
Master
is very important. To have an attitude of trust, love and surrender is
the
best safegaurd. This attitude comes most naturally if we regard God as
our Divine Mother.
One can think of a few sources where you can get detailed authentic
information:
1) Ramakrishna Mission publications should carry a lot of material on
the Divine Mother since Sri Ramakrishna Himself had worshipped the
Mother
in Her Kali form all his life.
In traditional Hinduism there are One Thousand Sacred Names (known as
as Lalita (=The Divine Mother's) Sahasra( = thousand) Namam (=names))
that describe the nature and glory of the Divine Mother. Chanting these
Names with devotion is an important form of Divine Mother's worship.
Although these Names are in Sanskrit, several English translations are
availableand one may simply contemplate on the meaning of the Names. The
RK publications
might have some books on this subject.
2) Sri Aurobindo has written a short and rare book titled "The Mother"
in which he describes the greatness of the Divine Mother, Her many
Aspects,
Incarnations etc. This is a must-read for anyone attracted to the Divine
Mother.
3) Help can be received from books and similar sources but there is
nothing like living help that can be obtained by contact of a Sadguru
(A Pefect Master). There is a much revered woman Saint from India
named Mata Amritanandamayi who is worshipped by many as an incarnation
of Kali, and a Perfect Master. She visits Europe and US every year on
her world tour. To find out more about her check the webpage:
http://www.globeworks.com/ammachi. She introduces many to the worship
of the Divine Mother. To learn how to worship from the Master herself
is indeed a rare opportunity.
4) There is another woman Saint in Germany, in Thalheim near Frankfurt,
known as Mother Meera. To learn more about her you could see the
webpage:
http://mothermeera.com/, or read her biography "The Hidden Journey"
by Andrew Harvey.
One cant think of anything else to say. Hope your group will get all
the necessary help and guidance on this subject.
