When I came to America, I was advised by a few Indians who
have been here for some time that "It's so cold here you
can not survive if you do not eat meat".

I recall the same advise was given to Gandhi when he arrived
in England.

A friend of mine, who is from a vegetarian family background,
was advised back in India; "When you you will go to USA, you
will have to eat meat". So he started "practicing" by
eating a little meat in India occasionally, while
preparing to leave for USA.
