I'm an A level student,(UK) studying Hinduism, so this may not be
acurate, but I believe there are many birth ceremonies in Hinduism,
depending on your Caste and orthodoxy. They will certainly involve
worship of the fire god Agni, who is worshipped in every ceremony due to
the belief that Agni is omnipresent because fire is everywhere. There
are special ceremonies for the first time the baby is taken outside, and
the first time it consumes solid food, in fact if you want there is
probably a ceremony for most things. I know there is a thanks giving
ceremony for birth, but unfortunately i do not have the information with
me, hope this was some help.
