Jayashri is one of the best exponents of Carnatic music, a
classical idiom of Indian music. She has achieved a distinctive style
that has won her admirers all over the world. Her immense talent and
popularity all over India and all over the world defy her age. She is
a disciple of the Violin Maestro, composer and living legend Padmasri
Lalgudi Jayaraman.

A regular performer on All India Radio and Doordarshan, she has
also performed in all the major institutions, festivals and sabhas in
India and has been richly acclaimed both by critics and rasikas. Her
contributions to Carnatic music have been widely covered by leading
newspapers and magazines of India. She has released several cassettes
and CD's on the major labels like HMV, Sangeetha and Inreco and is a
popular favorite at the Record Stores.

She is the recipient of several awards from reputed
institutions like The Music Academy, Shanmukhananda Sabha, Krishna
Gana Sabha and Indian Fine Arts. She was awarded the title of "Yuva
Kala Bharathi" by Bharat Kalachar in 1992 and chosen as the best
artist under 25 years of age by CMANA.
