I am a religion teacher in a Catholic high school. Among the classes I
teach is one on 'Religions of the World.' To complete an assignment I have
given, one student is looking for information on initiation rituals,
whether it involves welcoming a newborn child into the community or
initiating converts. I had heard of a Hindu infant naming ceremony that
involves, as one friend told me, "finding the most auspicious name to be
given on the most auspicious day." Could anyone help me find information
about such ceremionies? (And, perhaps, other rituals?)
