I wanted to point out a few things to Mr. Sethi of Vaishnava beliefs:

1. The Cow is not a "Goddess".
2. The Cow is to be protected as she provides us with milk, butter, cream,
etc.

So does a water buffalo, so does a goat.

3. The Cow by nature has motherly qualities and provides sustanance to us
all. How can we cut the throat of our mother ?

All female animals have motherly qualities and regard for their
infants, though not for man. And the cow is not exceptional in either
respect.

4. Lord Krishna and his past times are intamately linked and the Cow
reminds of Sri Krishna.

Sri Krishna apparently grew up and no longer saw the need to graze
cows as King Krishna!

5. The Vedas ask us to protect the Cow and other beings.

That does not address the issue as to why the Cow has special status
as compared to other beings.
