"Pagan" is a word used by Christians/Muslims/Jews to refer to anyone
who is not of their religious tradition. It might be like saying
"outsider" or "non-believer". The word "Pagan" has very negative
connotations though, because through-out the centuries
Christians/Muslims/Jews have labled other people as such and used this
as an excuse to slaughter them and pillage their land and possessions.
(Have you ever studied the Christian/Muslim wars in the middle ages?
The 'Crusades'?) It seems that being a "Pagan" makes you less human
than the Christian/Muslim/Jew, who think that they know the 'correct'
way to worship. If you follow this mentality, it then becomes ok to
do horrible things to "Pagans" because "God" doesn't care about them
anyway.

I'm certainly not saying that all Chrisitans/Muslims/Jews feel this
way, but historically "Pagan" has been used like this. Its an ugly
part of our history.

I would NOT worry about what another religion chose to lable me. What
is important is your own relationship to God.
