Even though the Kaurav's were on the side of "adharma" they died in a
"Dharmayuddhya". So they were entitled to spend atleast some time in heaven.
They had to go to hell after that as Venkatesh mentioned. My source of
information is the "Chhotoder Mahabharat" (The Mahabharat written for kids by
Upendrakishore Roychowdhury in Bengali. Roychowdhury, incidently is the
grandfather of Satyajit Ray)
