Global Vision 2000 on Video Cassette

Video Review of "Glimpses of Global Vision 2000" featuring: Swami Satchidananda
Swami Chidanand Saraswati (Muniji), Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Sant Rameshbhai
Oza, Sant Morari Bapu, Acharya Sushilkumar Muni, Dada Vasvani, Swami Shuddhana-
da, representative of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, representative of Yogi Bhajan,
representative of the Dalai Lama, etc.

The climactic scenes of GV2000, organized by the VHP of America to commemorate
the centenary of Swami Vivekananda's historic address to the World Parliament
of Religions, have been captured in a video cassette. This video will be appre-
ciated by both those who could not witness this historic event and by those who
wish to relive it!

During August 6 through 8, 1993, Washington Hilton, Capital Center and Omni
Shoreham Hotel were the sites of the largest congragation of Hindus ever held
in the USA.

The video cassette quintessentially resonates with the core theme of the confe-
rence: the universality of Hinduism which accepts all religions as equals and
the entire cosmos as one family.

The video focuses mostly on the events at the Capital Center which were attend-
ed by over 10,000 people. The singing of the US National Anthem, and Vande
Mataram by Anuradha Paudval, sets the tone for the multifaith prayer which
follows.

Dr. Edgar Mitchell, lunar module pilot of the Apollo 14 and the sixth man to
walk on the moon provides the link between science and religion.

The message from Dalai Lama and representative of the Mayan Civilization of
Mexico with his colorful peacock feather headdress give colorful complement to
the message of universality.

Dr. Lakshmi Kumari of Vivekananda Kendra opened the Global Youth Conference,
making mention of the important role of women in Hinduism. Another of the
women spiritual leaders featured was Miss Uma Bharati who made a very powerful
speech invigorating Hindus to be proud of their identity.

While the video introduces some glimpses of outstanding cultural events, the
concentration of the "Sant Sammelan" of spiritual leaders makes the video an
outstanding collectors' item.

The gist of the speeches of various swamis and sants is a treasure trove.
Perhaps the most persuasive, thought-provoking and yet simple oratory of Swami
Dayananda Saraswati alone is enough for one to cherish in this video.

Swami Dayananda Saraswati very eloquently demonstrates how the Creator cannot
be outside the Creation. The God cannot be somewhere "outside" the universe, he
argues. He gives a new meaning to the definition that Hindus are "tolerant".

Hinduism is known for its "inclusiveness", accepting all forms of worship, be
it of Ram or of Rahim. Thus, Hinduism accepts all religions as equal. But, will
others accept us? A meaningful query indeed.

The video will be serving its purpose by this rejuvenation and rekindling
of thought on Hinduism.
