Pittsburgh Hindu Students celebrate Saraswati Puja --- Press Release

Pittsburgh Hindu Students celebrate Saraswati Puja

	"HSC and its activities give a true reflection of knowledge, unity,
progress, and dharma", said Jayanta Rege, an engineering student in the 
University of Pittsburgh. Srikanta Mookerjee, overall coordiantor of the 
Pittsburgh area chapter of HSC said "It is really encouraging to see so much
interest in Hindu culture in the campus community".
                                 
	On Saturday, Jan 21 95, Hindu Students Council Pittsburgh chapter 
celebreted Saraswati Puja. Over 150 people attended from Carnegie Mellon,
Pittsburgh and  Dequence Universities. The programe  began at 7:30 pm with
an introduction by Dharmita Shah, a student at the University of Pittsburgh .
She also explained the goals of HSC, both nationally and locally. Bibhuti
Aryal, a High school sophomore, spoke about Saraswati Puja and the
significance behind this grand Hindu festival.

	This was followed by Puja performed by the priest Shri Binod Panday 
from Hindu Jain Temple. After the Puja Aarati, was performed and prasad 
was distributed. The audience enjoyed the whole ceremony very much. Finally,
there was a cultural program that included dandia-raas.

	Program coordinator Arun Aryal said "The Sarawati Puja we had was
very impressive, but I was even more impressed with the way our members 
handled the program cosidering our limitations. I am very fortunate to 
have all these friends in HSC.

	HSC is an international forum providing an opportunity to learn
