DIWALI IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF INDIA
In Karnataka the next day of Bhaiya Doojh i s celebrated as "Aakana tadagi', a special day for the sister who is showered with gifts and sweets. In Karnataka and Tamil Nadu , in the first year of marriage, the son-in-law is invited on the Diwali , the house is decorated with kolams or colourful rangolis or "Kolams" and lavish gifts are showered on him. Also on Narakachaturdasi day special aarti is performed for the daughter and the son-in-law in early morning before sunrise.
The Yadava community which considers itself the descendents of Lord Krishna on the day of Naraka Chaturdasi show their gratitude to their cattle by decorating them and taking them out in a procession to the accompaniment of music.
Finally in every house across India earthen lamps with oil are lit because they symbolize the ultimate truth of life that man come from dust and to dust he returns. Thus the importance of earthen lamps.
