Baisakhi

The hot month of April in India heralds a New Year for Government of India. For the Hindus, it is a Solar New Year day and time for a ritual bath in the holy rivers. On April 13 each year it is the New Year in Punjab and Tamil Nadu. For the Tamils the New Year is considered auspicious for starting new ventures, business, and construction and to look forward to what the year brings about in terms of rains, health and prosperity. In Assam it is the Bihu festival.
