Charles,
I concede that you got me. All the reports I heard were from
stone/marble statues. Not being an engineer/physicist, I am unable to
explain the "drinking." I still think it must be a property of the metal
involved.
But as Shakespeare said, "There are stranger things in heavan and earth
than that are dreamt of in your philosophy" So maybe it was a miracle.
Miracles are just things we can't explain, I would like to suggest that
"miracles" from the "gods/god" should be placed in a special catogory
where "good" actually occurs, i.e. bringing the community closer,
reaffriming one's faith, etc. This event did all that and I am in no
place to argue about it. My fear is that humankind is not wise enough to
use this miracle by subverting it to it's own ends, like throwing all
other religions out of India, as suggested by some half witted politicians.
