In a previous article, vivek@cs.rice.edu (Vivek Sadananda Pai) simplifies:

>Simply put, the moderation delays seen on SRH and the unpredictability
>of the moderation cycles has dampened a lot of discussion on the
>newsgroup. I've noticed it, and others have noticed it. Even people
>other than the RFD proponents and moderators have spoken out about it.

If speeding up entry was the only topic of the RFD, then I could at least
agree partly with Pai's comments as quoted above, in that delay has
occurred from time to time. While that has been frustrating in one sense,
it has also helped me remember that discussion on the net is not crucial
to planetary survival. Still, were Pai, Rao, and Mani to have addressed
only the issue of delay, instead of the multipage referendum to reorganize
SRH, I would have supported such a discussion.

The RFD however details much more than that- it calls for surgery.

Earlier at alt.religion.vaisnava, a number of vocal Vaishnavites announced
their gross displeasure not only with the delays at SRH, but in particular
with Ajay. Ajay was called pretty much a nonVaishnavite cad of little
intelligence, morals or utility. That those same men now say they do not
wish to oust Ajay, suggests either they do not recall their earlier
remarks, or have changed their minds. While I can appreciate their
displeasure and, even understand why they mock Ajay, who is after all
`just a Hindu' and not a Vaishnavite, I do not appreciate their turning
their displeasure into a netwide forum to revamp SRH from top to bottom
and to divide it into segments.

I have read the RFD, read the comments for and against, and I say no to
the suggested changes.

Thanks for hearing me out.

All best wishes
