The best exposition of this is in the gauDapaada karikaa II and III,
especially II. Please read it very carefully and definitely not without
the aachaarya's commentary. I could summarize the main points, but
unfortunately I am tied up with work right now. You may also want to try
upadeshasaahasrii, a prakaraNa grantha of the aachaarya.
