Hmmm, similar to Jesus being tempted by Satan.
I'm sure Christianity must have started with less material
motivations. Unfortunately some of these basics of morality are often
exchanged for the practicalities of succeeding in this material world.
I don't know of any religion that has been able to withstand such
ravages. Some individuals and groups have succeeded but in every
religion a large number have fallen.
I suppose this is the heritage of the Kali Yuga.
