INDRA and VRETHRAGHNA
Indra the Mighty.
I recently read somewhere that Indra is known to the Zoroastrians as
signifying evil. This goes well with the idea that Vedic devas were transformed
into demonic Daevas by the Zoroastrians. In the Rig Veda there are many
instances of wars between various peoples and the defeated people being driven
out. These have been interpreted as the Aryans driving out the Dravidians by
western scholars and these ideas are widely accepted. What I believe is that
these were actually wars between people of related races and the Persians were
actually one of the people who might have been driven out and Zarathushtra
reformed their religion which was very closely related to Vedic religion
.This might explain why the Vedic Devas became evil to the Zoroastrians.
The reason why I feel the wars were between related people is because
at many places, these people who were driven out have been said to have
descended from other Aryans. Moreover, the Rig Veda also says that Indra is
invoked by both sides in battle.I see absolutely no reason why 'Dravidians'
should invoke Indra in battle if they are what the western scholars tell us
they are.
Moreover,Indra is said to be equivalent to Vrethraghna of the
Zoroastrians.I think Indra is the same as Vrethraghna. Not only do they have the
same attributes,I think their names mean the same too.Indra's arch enemy is
Vritra the demon."Vrethraghna" in Sanskrit might mean "the one who has defeated
Vritra"(like"Shatrughna").So,the Zoroastrians continued to worship Indra, but
with a different name.
Peace be to us Indra,
