Let's see. Anandagiri mentions in his Tika that Gaudapada
meditated on Lord Vishnu for many years and Lord Vishnu appeared before
him and preached the Advaita philosophy to him.
It seems according to Gaudiya Vaishnava school, Vishnu followed
up on this by sending Lord Shiva to be incarnate as Shankara, so that he
could become a disciple of Gaudapada's disciple, Govinda. Any proof of this ?
It seems to be a X-file conspiracy :-) with Lord Vishnu and Shiva
jointly fooling aspirants since it has been contended here that those who
follow Advaita go the planet of the faithless etc.
I would also like to know how Lord Vishnu and Shiva made amends for thisWere Ramanuja and Madhva incarnations of Vishnu ?

I *used* to read alt.meditation regularly; i no longer do. I have
seen this excerpts from this page referred to and even twisted beyond belief.
For example, I have seen the following :
1. According to the Vedas, Shankara was an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
2. According to Shrimad Bhagavatam by Srila Prabhupada, Jesus was an
incarnation of Krishna [not vishnu].
I know ISKCON is not responsible for the views of its members and
I am not even sure whether they belong to ISKCON except that they say
*only* the path of worshipping krishna is correct and they quote from
Srila Prabhupada.
I haven't questioned them on alt.meditation on this, since they
are on a right path [of worshipping Lord Vishnu], but not neccessarily right
on saying that only their path is their correct path.
