REQUEST : Rg Veda
Hello,
I've been reading a heavily abridged translation of the Rg Veda
lately. I've been wondering, to what extent are the stories
within about Indra, Agni, Soma, Aditi, Daksha, Yama, Mitra, Vayu, et al.
regarded as mythic, and to what extent are they regarded as
religious canon. I have the vague notion that they are mostly seen
as representations of Vishu. I realize that this may be both
a rather broad and gauche question, and if it is, I apologize. Can
someone recommend a good book explaining some of the differences between
the modern practices of Hinduism and the ancient Vedic beliefs?
