mano-buddhi-ahankAra-chittAni nAaham
na cha shrotra-jihve na cha ghrAaNa-netre |
na cha vyoma-bhUmir na tejo na vaayush-
chid-Ananda-rUpaH shivo'haM shivo'ham || 1 ||
na cha prANa-sanjno na vai pancha-vAyur
na vA sapta-dhAtur na vA pancha-koshAH |
na vAk-pANi-pAdau na chopastha-pAyU
chid-Ananda-rUpaH shivo'haM shivo'ham || 2 ||
na me dveSha-rAgau na me lobha-mohau
na me vai mado naiva mAtsarya-bhAvaH |
na dharmo na chArtho na kAmo na mokShaH
chid-Ananda-rUpaH shivo'haM shivo'ham || 3 ||
na puNyam na pApam na saukhyam na duHkham
na mantro na tIrtham na vedA na yajnAH |
aham bhojanam naiva bhojyam na bhoktA
chid-Ananda-rUpaH shivo'haM shivo'ham || 4 ||
na me mRtyur na shankA na me jAtibhedaH
pitA naiva me naiva mAtaa na janma |
na bandhur na mitram gurur naiva shiShyash-
chid-Ananda-rUpaH shivo'haM shivo'ham || 5 ||
aham nir-vikalpo nirAkAra-rUpo
vibhutvAt cha sarvatra sarvendriyANAm |
na chAsangatam naiva muktir na meyash-
chid-Ananda-rUpaH shivo'haM shivo'ham || 6 ||

Mind, I am not, intellect, ego or thought;
Sense of hearing, tasting nor seeing, am I not;
Neither ether nor earth, neither fire nor air;
I am the embodiment of knowledge and bliss -
Indeed I am, none but He, none but He! || 1 ||
I am not that sign of breath, nor the five-fold vital airs;
Nor the seven elements of the body, nor those five sheathes;
Nor the organs of action like mouth, hands, foot, genitals & the back;
I am the embodiment of knowledge and bliss -
Indeed I am, none but He, none but He! || 2 ||
I have neither attachment, nor any aversion;
Greed or delusion, nay envy or vain;
Duty, acquisition, desire nor liberation do I aspire -
I am the embodiment of knowledge and bliss -
Indeed I am, none but He, none but He! || 3 ||
I am neither virtue nor vice acquired;
Pleasure or pain that is experienced, no, no;
A chant, a holy place, a scripture nor the sacrificial fire;
Enjoyment, enjoyable nor the enjoyer am I -
I am the embodiment of knowledge and bliss -
Indeed I am, none but He, none but He! || 4 ||
For me, there is no death, nor apprehension;
None to distinguish by class or creed;
No father, no mother, why, no birth at all;
No friend, no kith or kin, teacher or pupil -
I am the embodiment of knowledge and bliss -
Indeed I am, none but He, none but He! || 5 ||
Changeless I am, free of form, enveloping all,
Omnipresent, untouched by sensory organs I am
Unfathomable, beyond the realm of freedom -
I am the embodiment of knowledge and bliss -
Indeed I am, none but He, none but He! || 6 ||
