I have walked the field in summer
Where the sun beams streamed and broke.
But I never saw the cattle, sheep
or horse ever smoke.
I have seen birds in spring time
Flying land on place well
But I never saw a sparrow
Puffing a cigarette.
I have fished in pond or river
Where the finny tribe are ripe.
But I never saw a cat, fish
Smoke a cigar or pipe.
I have hunted in wild woods
Seen the squirrels in theirs
Yet I never saw a rabbit pen
Or a squirrel ever chew.
I have never seen a monkey or
The ape or snake or swan,
Ever filthy with tobacco
Like this higher creative Man.
Man the only living creature
And Some women on their toes
Go just like the blowing Engines.
Puffing smoke from Mouth and Nose.
Had our Father in the Heavens
When the first invented Man
Then intended this to happen
He would've had a different plan.
He would surely have built a chimney,
In his head, just like a date
Opened wide a smoke consumer.
And thus brought things up to date.
But Man made in God's own image
Pure and wholesome, clean and good
Puffing smoke mouth and nostrils
This cannot be understood.
